the insane project
Back in the 20th century, the first thing I would do in my lottery fantasy would be to go to the record store and buy every single record I ever wanted. Today I can realize that dream just by sitting here at my computer. What a wonderful world we live in.
Converting my music collection to an entirely electronic format allows me to do things I always only dreamed of. I have finally begun the insane project I have always threatened to do. No, not that one, I'm not shaving my head. I've decided to try to listen to my entire record collection. In alphabetical order.
OK, so I cheated on the very first take, I have not yet listened to my copy of Abba Gold all the way through yet. But that's the only cheat so far.
The only way I could make this project more insane is if I review all the records here as I go. I started a couple weeks ago, so I can catch up. It will make up for the fact that I am a lousy record reviewer - I don't feel any need to tell you anything useful about these records, only how I feel about them.
I've discovered that there are a lot of bad files propagating out there. Listening to everything all the way through lets me do a service to the slsk community, making sure I'm only sharing top quality files. Apparently not everyone listens to all their music either because sometimes it takes a few attempts to find a clean copy of something.
So let's give it a shot. I promise nothing, but then I've probably lost all my readers except my darling ex (bless her heart) so I have nothing to lose either.
