sorting

Since I left my position as Executive Director of the LPNC, I've been taking the time to sort through my life. Sorting is good, it helps one figure out what is truly valuable. But it hasn't put me in the mood to write all that much. If you want to find out about the political side of this equation, I just posted about that on my other blog.

So what is valuable to me? Well, I've been praying and reading my Bible a bit more, getting out of the house a lot more, and reconnecting with friends who I've neglected because they weren't directly in the path of my LP work.

Two hobbies have sustained me pretty well. One is fantasy football. You'd think there wouldn't be much to do during the offseason, but I find all aspects of football wonderfully fascinating. The NFL draft is one of my favorite events of the year, and I am most pleased with how my Carolina Panthers selected. My FF message bored (hey, that's how they spell it) was down for months but is now back up. Hooray! I post there under the moniker MahSoonerz (there, I finally gave away my secret identity).

I've finally figured out fantasy sports, I think. At least I've been winning. I've been in the lead almost all season in my fantasy NASCAR league, and came in tied for fifth in a draft contest at FFToday. Most of the players we nabbed at the end of last football season in our keeper league have moved on to much superior situations. Winning is fun!

The other main hobby is downloading music. That has been a salvation. It's exactly the kind of rote work which can take up all your attention without being at all stressful. I have this tendency to dwell on stuff that keeps me angry, but with this I can just concentrate on improving my record collection and listening to music, which drives pretty much everything else out of my head. It also makes for better radio shows. But now that I've filled up the hard drive, I have to find something else to do with my time. Preferably something that pays money.

Does this mean I'll be posting here more regularly? Maybe, but no promises. I may be out having too much fun. But the fact that I'm in the mood today to write, for the first time in months, that's a good sign.
